Ontario NDP’s Shailer highlights rural issues at Lambton-Kent-Middlesex first all-candidates debate

ALVINSTON – Kathryn Shailer, Ontario NDP candidate for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex, attended the All-Candidates Public Meeting hosted by the Lambton, Kent and Middlesex Federations of Agriculture last night. She took the opportunity to address the most important issues facing the community – and how the Ontario NDP plans to tackle them.

“People are struggling in my home community of Alvinston and in every community throughout our area,” said Shailer. “Time and time again, rural Ontario has been taken for granted and forgotten by the Ford’s Conservatives and it has to stop.”

“This by-election is an opportunity to send a strong message to Ford’s Conservatives – that tight-knit rural communities like ours need a reliable partner at Queen’s Park. We need investments in the public services we rely on. We need our local hospitals and schools to remain open. We need funding to repair our arenas and bridges. As your next MPP, I will fight for the funding we deserve.

Marit Stiles and the Ontario NDP are the only party that has forced accountability from the Ford – even reversing his attempts to sell off vital farmland to wealthy developers. I’m proud to be on their team.”
